Our Mission

Sarcoma Warriors is a South Carolina-based, 501(c)3 non-profit organization that raises money for victims, families, and survivors of sarcoma cancers.
Our mission is simple: to touch the lives of as many people with this rare and often deadly form of cancer as possible.

Our History

The story of Sarcoma Warriors started with a local 5k charity run in 2010. A team of patients and their families, physicians, nurses, and medical personnel assembled to support the mission of the race and have fun. A t-shirt was created to bring light-hearted unity to the team.

None of us broke any records that day, but we did plant a seed. Someone saw our t-shirts and gave us our first $1,000 donation. The next year we held our first fundraising event with Mac Arnold, legendary American blues musician. Sarcoma Warriors has since grown into one of the leading support advocates in our state and region for those fighting, and surviving sarcoma.

What is sarcoma?

Sarcoma is a very rare kind of cancer that attacks the tissue that holds the body together: muscles and fat, nerves and arteries, cartilage and bones. This type of cancer causes problems for patients and their doctors because, due to its rarity, research efforts are limited. There simply aren’t as many people with sarcoma as there are with organ or blood cancers, so treatment advances are slow. As well, sarcoma cancers tend to be very strong and require an aggressive treatment of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery.

Sarcoma cancers include dozens of subtypes that together affect 200-300 South Carolinians each year. The goal of Sarcoma Warriors is to reach out to all of them, providing as much emotional, physical, and financial support as we can.

And with your help, we do just that.
